XRP Wallets Hit Record 8.24 Million as XRPL Growth Speeds Up

A Major Milestone for the XRP Ledger
The XRP Ledger (XRPL) has officially hit a major milestone, reaching an all-time record of 8.24 million nonempty wallets. Despite facing months of ongoing price swings across the cryptocurrency market, user participation on the network continues to move higher.
To put this in perspective with the wider market, major digital assets have seen pullbacks recently. At the time of reporting, Bitcoin (BTCBTC-1.41%) was trading around $80,214 (down 1.65%), while EthereumETH-3.14% dropped to $2,322 (down 3.52%). XRP itself was trading near $1.27, after hovering closer to $1.36 when analytics platform Santiment highlighted the wallet milestone.
Why does wallet growth matter so much to everyday crypto enthusiasts? Think of wallet addresses like accounts at a digital bank or user profiles on a social platform. When the number of active wallets grows during periods of market ups and downs, it shows that people are actively joining and interacting with the network. Let's take a closer look at what these numbers reveal, what price levels analysts are watching, and how big financial players are entering the picture.
Breaking Down the Numbers: 8.24 Million Wallets and Daily Spikes
According to data published on October 22 by blockchain analytics platform Santiment, the number of funded, nonempty addresses on the XRP Ledger climbed to a record 8.24 million. This metric specifically counts wallets holding a balance greater than zero, leaving out completely empty addresses.
In addition to the total wallet count, daily user onboarding experienced a significant jump. On the day of the report, the network registered 4,772 brand-new funded wallets created in a single 24-hour period. Santiment noted that this was the fifth-largest single-day spike in new XRP addresses recorded since March.
Holder growth is still moving higher with $XRP trading near $1.36. Fresh participation is accelerating again, which strengthens the bullish case if price continues confirming the increase in users.
This ongoing inflow of new participants shows that interest in the network's underlying payment infrastructure remains active, even as asset prices experience short-term fluctuations.
Analyst Price Scenarios and Key Levels to Watch
Santiment's analysis outlined specific conditional price scenarios for XRP based on the connection between user onboarding and market price action. They highlighted $1.40 as the primary price level for traders and observers to watch closely.
Under an upside scenario, if XRP achieves a sustained move above $1.40 while new daily wallet growth stays consistently near or above 4,000 addresses, analysts suggest a quick return toward $1.50 becomes plausible. In this scenario, strong user onboarding serves as fundamental backing for price movement.
On the other hand, under a downside scenario, if the price slips below $1.30 while daily address creation falls under roughly 3,000 new wallets, short-term adoption assessments would weaken. Reduced network participation combined with lower prices could signal fading buyer momentum.
Market participants should keep in mind that price scenarios depend entirely on shifting market liquidity, general sentiment, and broader macroeconomic conditions. Past performance of digital assets or operating results is not an indicator of future performance.
Understanding Wallets vs. Real Users: How XRPL Tracking Works
To accurately read blockchain metrics, it helps to understand what a wallet address represents. Santiment distinguishes between total nonempty wallets and network growth. Network growth counts the number of brand-new addresses transferring a given token for the very first time.
However, having 8.24 million wallets does not automatically mean there are 8.24 million individual human beings using XRP. A single user or company can easily create and manage multiple wallet addresses. Furthermore, centralized crypto exchanges hold funds for thousands of individual customers within a small group of central exchange wallets.
To keep track of individual customer balances within a single shared address, the XRP Ledger uses a feature called destination tags. Think of a shared exchange wallet like a large apartment building with one main street address. The destination tag acts like an apartment unit number, ensuring deposits arrive at the correct user account without needing a separate on-chain wallet for every person.
Because transaction histories on public blockchains are open to everyone, researchers rely on tools called blockchain explorers. An explorer acts like a public search engine for the blockchain, organizing complex transaction records so anyone can review address balances and overall network activity over time.
Whale Activity: Large Holders Accumulate Balances
Beyond retail wallet creation, tracking specific balance tiers provides insight into how large holdersâoften called whalesâare managing their XRP.
Back in January, Santiment tracked notable growth among high-balance XRP accounts. The firm recorded a net increase of 42 addresses holding at least 1 million XRP. This metric highlights accumulation among large holders, offering another perspective alongside general user growth.
When large institutions or individuals adjust their holdings, it changes token distribution across the ecosystem. Reviewing both large holders and daily account creation provides a fuller view of total network health.
Corporate Treasuries and Banking Integration
Corporate treasuries and institutional firms are also expanding their roles on the XRP Ledger:
- Evernorth Holdings Inc. (Nasdaq: XRPN): Holds a corporate treasury of 473 million XRP. The company outlined plans to begin deploying XRP from its treasury starting in the fourth quarter, collaborating with RippleXRP-2.28%, Coinbase (Nasdaq: COIN), Kraken, and Bitgo.
- Standard Chartered Institutional Custody: On October 12, global bank Standard Chartered introduced institutional custody for Ripple USDRLUSD+0.20% through its Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) branch.
- LMAX Group Collateral Integration: A planned integration with LMAX Group aims to enable RLUSD stablecoins to be used as trading collateral, making institutional trading and margin management more efficient.
Ecosystem Expansion: What Lies Ahead?
Looking forward, institutional asset manager 21shares highlighted that demand for XRP could grow as new applications bring more activity to the XRP Ledger.
The expansion of decentralized finance (DeFi), real-world asset (RWA) tokenization, cross-border payments, and stablecoins on XRPL offers utility beyond basic transfers. However, investors should remember that token demand and prices remain subject to broader crypto market risks and changing global regulations.
