Sydney Sweeney Mocks Bizarre Bets in New Novig Campaign

Sydney Sweeney Returns with a Bold New Ad
Actress Sydney Sweeney is making waves once again in the prediction market space. She recently starred in a brand-new 30-second commercial for Novig, a platform dedicated exclusively to sports trading.
Novig posted the new clip on X on Sunday, October 11, 2026. The platform shared it alongside a direct message: 'No dictators. No market manipulation. No insider trading. No BS. Just sports.'
Sweeney holds an equity stake in Novig. In this latest ad, she maintains the platform's core pitch while taking direct aim at rival platforms.
Taking Aim at War Bets and Underwear Spreadsheets
The commercial opens with Sweeney poking fun at the unusual things people bet on across the web. She delivers her lines in a lighthearted, direct style.
There are grown men making spreadsheets to bet on what color underwear I'm wearing. I mean, I'm flattered?
She then shifts focus to broader industry problems. Sweeney points out how some platforms allow people to bet on global conflicts and political events.
There's insider trading on dictators dying and armies of bots manipulating it all. There's someone sitting in a bathroom stall betting their 401(k) on a war.
Sweeney contrasts those chaotic markets with Novig's focus. She highlights people who choose to trade strictly on sports events instead.
Why Is Novig Calling Out Competitors?
Although Sweeney does not call out specific companies by name, her comments clearly target major prediction platforms like Kalshi and Polymarket. Both platforms allow users to trade on political outcomes and global events.
Non-sports prediction platforms have recently faced heavy scrutiny over suspicious trading activity and regulatory concerns.
For instance, Kalshi launched an internal investigation into suspicious trades related to President Donald Trump selecting Katie Zacharia as White House press secretary.
The Wall Street Journal reported on October 9, citing a company spokesperson, that several small trades occurred right before the official announcement. One $19 wager was positioned to yield a $1,896 payout.
Polymarket faced its own major scandal earlier in the year. In April, the U.S. Department of Justice charged a U.S. soldier for allegedly using classified military secrets.
The soldier reportedly used sensitive information regarding an operation to capture Venezuela's Nicolás Maduro to net over $400,000 on Polymarket.
Recapping the September Launch Controversy
This latest ad serves as a follow-up to Novig's initial campaign launched on September 9. That commercial also generated significant public discussion.
In the original ad, Sweeney posed nude behind sports gear while promising 'no betting on wars or deaths, and no politics.'
That campaign drew sharp criticism from prominent figures in sports. Australian Olympic swimming champion Ariarne Titmus voiced concern, stating that the ad sexualized women's athletics.
Sweeney's Euphoria co-star Sharon Stone also commented on the situation during an interview with People magazine.
We can't denigrate women's sports to get men's attention so they can gamble.
Stone added that while it was up to Sweeney to take responsibility for her choices, she was not judging her directly.
Is the Attention Helping Novig Grow?
Despite the mixed reactions to the marketing push, Novig reports strong business growth following the campaign launch.
Co-founder and CEO Jacob Fortinsky stated that trading volume surged nearly 94% in the 20 days surrounding the campaign launch.
However, it is worth noting that this timeframe also coincided with the start of the NFL season, which traditionally drives a massive spike in sports trading.
Past platform performance or volume growth does not guarantee future results. While prediction platforms are expanding quickly, users should remain aware of market risks and potential regulatory shifts.
Overall, sports prediction markets are seeing record engagement. Industry data shows overall prediction market volume reached $68 billion in a single month as traditional sportsbook stocks experienced declines.
