Strategy Earns $19.5B in Q3 as Saylor Calls Next Bull Run

Strategy Reports Massive Q3 Profit Driven by Bitcoin
Business intelligence firm Strategy delivered a remarkable financial performance in the third quarter of 2026. The firm posted a net income of $19.53 billion. That marks a massive leap from the $2.79 billion net income recorded during the exact same quarter last year.
The primary engine behind this profit surge was a $20.91 billion gain on its Bitcoin holdings. This massive gain pushed the company's total operating income to an all-time record high.
However, Strategy's traditional software business went in a different direction. Total revenue slipped 3% year over year, coming in at $125.4 million compared to $128.7 million in the third quarter of the previous year.
The company recorded a gross profit of $89.6 million for the quarter. Its gross margin landed at 71%, which is a slight shift from $90.7 million and a 70% gross margin recorded a year earlier.
A Look Inside Strategy's $68.9 Billion Bitcoin Vault
Strategy maintained its spot as the largest public corporate holder of Bitcoin. As of October 25, the company held a total of 848,517 BTCBTC-4.29%. The market value of this stash reached $68.9 billion against an original cost basis of $64.02 billion.
Here is a breakdown of Strategy's key Bitcoin numbers:
- Average Purchase Price: Approximately $75,446 per Bitcoin
- Year-to-Date Purchases: $14.33 billion spent on Bitcoin during 2026
- Holdings Expansion: Total Bitcoin balance increased by 26% in 2026
Despite these massive acquisitions, one key corporate metric dipped into negative territory. Strategy's key KPI, known as BTC Yield, stood at negative 3.7%. BTC Yield tracks the percentage change over time in the ratio between the company's Bitcoin holdings and its diluted share count.

Michael Saylor Sees the Next Bitcoin Bull Market Beginning
Even with the negative BTC Yield, founder and executive chairman Michael Saylor expressed strong optimism about where the market is heading next.
"We're at the beginning of the next bull market," stated Michael Saylor.
Saylor pointed to several major trends that he believes are setting up this new growth phase:
- Traditional commercial banks are actively embracing Bitcoin services.
- Bitcoin's overall market dominance relative to other digital assets continues to grow.
- Institutional capital and demand have returned to the crypto sector.
- Bitcoin's market price currently trades 21% above its long-term 200-week moving average.
If institutional adoption and favorable regulatory trends continue, market analysts suggest Bitcoin could sustain its upward trajectory over the coming quarters. However, if macroeconomic conditions worsen or institutional demand slows down, asset prices could face downward corrections.
Saylor also highlighted the growth of Digital Credit, which has expanded to $16 billion in notional value across ten publicly listed securities. Strategy controls an 84% market share in this sector, supported by its STRC product returning to strength.
In terms of immediate treasury plans, Strategy appears to have temporarily paused its Bitcoin purchasing spree. Instead, the firm is directing capital toward repurchasing its STRC shares.
Leadership Transition: CFO Andrew Kang Steps Down
In addition to its financial performance, Strategy announced a high-level executive change. Chief Financial Officer Andrew Kang is stepping down from his role on November 5.
Kang informed the company earlier in the week that he was resigning due to personal reasons. Strategy emphasized that his resignation does not stem from any disagreements regarding the company's operations, policies, or financial practices.
To help ensure a seamless transition, Kang will remain with the firm as an advisor through December 31.
Reza Virasteh, who serves as executive vice president of operations, will step into the role of co-principal financial officer on January 1. He will handle financial leadership duties alongside President and CEO Phong Le.
What Strategy's Results Mean for the Broader Crypto Market
Strategy's updates serve as an important benchmark for how corporate balance sheets interact with digital assets. The huge gap between its core software revenue and its billion-dollar Bitcoin gains shows just how powerful crypto holdings can be on corporate financial statements.
As institutional interest grows and more public companies explore crypto options, Strategy's balance sheet strategies and share buybacks offer a clear case study for Wall Street and crypto investors alike.
