Samsung Adds Solana USDC Payments to 82 Million Phones

Samsung Integrates SolanaSOL-2.94% USDCUSDC+0.09% Payments into Galaxy Devices
Sending money across international borders is getting a major digital upgrade for millions of smartphone users.
Starting in late October 2026, Samsung is bringing Solana-based USD Coin (USDC) cross-border payments to 82 million Galaxy devices across the United States. This feature will be built directly into the native Samsung Wallet app.
How Does the New Payment Feature Work?
If you have ever used traditional international wire transfers, you know they can sometimes be slow and complex. Samsung aims to streamline that process by leveraging blockchain technology directly in its native ecosystem.
With this new integration, eligible Galaxy users will not need to download additional crypto applications to send digital dollars internationally.
- Built-in Fiat Ramps: Convert easily between local cash and stablecoins directly within Samsung Wallet.
- Zero Samsung Transfer Fees: Send USDC to compatible crypto wallets without paying transfer fees to Samsung.
- Global Bank Transfers: Direct funds to eligible bank accounts across more than 60 countries, though standard bank transfer fees will apply.
- Identity Verification: Users must complete standard eligibility and identity verification checks before using the service.
Key Industry Partners Behind the Integration
To build a seamless mobile payment experience, Samsung is collaborating with several key players across the crypto infrastructure landscape.
The Solana Foundation is supplying the underlying blockchain infrastructure. Solana is widely known for handling high transaction speeds at low network costs.
For custody and backend payment processing, Samsung has partnered with Coinbase and Bastion. All customer USDC funds will be held securely via Coinbase Prime.
In addition to Solana, Samsung is integrating the SuiSUI-0.91% blockchain into its overall stablecoin expansion strategy.
Solana's Growing Stablecoin Volume
This integration follows significant network activity for stablecoins on the Solana blockchain.
Data from the Solana Foundation indicates that the total stablecoin supply on the Solana network grew by nearly 20% over the past 12 months.
So far in 2026, the network has processed more than $5.25 trillion in total stablecoin transaction volume.
While these metrics reflect strong network usage, past performance and historical network activity do not guarantee future performance or price stability. Digital assets remain subject to volatility and operational risks. You can monitor live digital asset data on official platforms like Bitkub Market.
A Look Back at Samsung's Crypto Timeline
Samsung has been exploring digital asset features on its flagship mobile devices for several years.
2019: Samsung Blockchain Keystore
Samsung entered the blockchain space in 2019 with the launch of the Galaxy S10 smartphone. It introduced the Samsung Blockchain Keystore, allowing users to secure private keys directly on their devices.
It also released the Samsung Blockchain Wallet to help users manage digital tokens and connect with decentralized applications.
2021: Hardware Wallet Compatibility
In 2021, Samsung expanded its ecosystem by adding support for external cold storage devices, including the Ledger Nano S and Ledger Nano X.
This gave users the ability to manage major digital assets like BitcoinBTC-1.35%, EthereumETH-2.07%, and Tron alongside hardware devices.
2025: Coinbase Partnership Expansion
In July 2025, Samsung integrated Samsung Pay into Coinbase. This allowed eligible users to purchase assets and add funds to their crypto trading accounts.
By October 2025, the collaboration expanded further, offering Samsung Wallet users access to promotional Coinbase One subscriptions and additional rewards.
Understanding Stablecoins and Cross-Border Transfers
Stablecoins like USDC are designed to maintain a 1:1 value ratio with traditional fiat currencies like the U.S. Dollar.
By pairing stablecoins with low-cost blockchain rails like Solana, everyday international payments can be processed quickly.
As with all digital transactions, users should double-check recipient wallet addresses and carefully review any associated third-party bank fees before finalizing cross-border transfers.
