Cardano Midnight Secures Major Exchange Listing in Japan

Big Expansion for Midnight in Japan
CardanoADA+7.44%'s privacy-focused partner network, Midnight, is making another big step into the Japanese cryptocurrency market. Its native token, NIGHT, will officially be available on OKCoin Japan (OKJ) starting October 13, 2026.
Input Output Group (IOG), the core development organization behind Cardano, shared the news on X. They highlighted that this listing gives Japanese users wider access to programmable privacy solutions.
OKCoin Japan is part of the global OK Group, which also operates the major exchange platform OKX. As a fully registered crypto asset exchange in Japan, OKJ offers a compliant pathway for local users to explore NIGHT.
Building Momentum in the Japanese Market
This isn't Midnight's first move in Japan. Back in August 2026, the NIGHT token landed its first Japanese listing on S.BLOX, a cryptocurrency exchange platform owned by Sony Group.
The addition of OKCoin Japan offers local crypto traders even more flexibility and access to the privacy token.
Alongside exchange listings, Midnight has also been rolling out technical upgrades. Permissionless smart contract deployment went live on the Midnight mainnet recently.
This upgrade allows builders to deploy smart contracts directly without needing extra permissions. It also lets decentralized applications launch contracts on behalf of their users.
Cardano On-Chain Activity Pick Up
The news comes as activity on the underlying Cardano network experiences a noticeable uptick. According to analytics provider Santiment, key on-chain metrics for Cardano have been climbing.
Daily active addresses on Cardano reached 27,500 on October 7, 2026, and held steady at 27,200 on October 8. That is roughly 1.7 times the average weekday traffic recorded in September.
This surge in active users lined up with the launch of the CIP-0113 token standard, which went live on Cardano mainnet on October 7.
Data from blockchain tracker Chainspect shows that Cardano processed 542,551 transactions on October 8, averaging 6.28 transactions per second (TPS) on its busiest day of the week.
In addition, Cardano crossed a significant network milestone by surpassing 125 million total transactions on mainnet, adding nearly 1 million transactions in a single epoch.
Market Trends and Price Updates
Following these developments, both Cardano (ADA) and Midnight (NIGHT) recorded price gains over a 24-hour window.
Cardano's native token ADA rose 6.47% in 24 hours to $0.244, bringing its weekly performance to +4.07%. Meanwhile, Midnight (NIGHT) jumped 9% in 24 hours to reach $0.049 after the listing news broke.
While positive ecosystem news often supports short-term interest, digital asset markets can experience rapid changes in direction.
