Can NEAR Protocol Recover? Key Price Levels to Watch

NEAR Protocol's Current Market Position
NEAR ProtocolNEAR+1.09% is trading around $4.97 after pulling back from its recent local peak. The token experienced a strong rally earlier this year, surging from roughly $1.60 in August to nearly $6.00 in mid-October.
Since hitting that peak, price action has cooled off and shifted into a sideways range. Past performance of digital assets is not an indication of future returns. You can track live market data on Bitkub Market.
The Main Resistance Barrier to Clear
For NEAR to regain upward momentum, it must break through a key resistance zone located between $5.40 and $5.60. Over recent weeks, buyers have tried to push above this range several times without success.
Each rejection created a long upper shadow on daily candlestick charts. This pattern indicates that sellers regularly step in whenever the price approaches $5.60. Beyond this area, the $6.00 mark stands as the next major ceiling.
Crucial Support Levels Holding the Floor
On the downside, support levels are clearer. Buyers are currently defending the $4.80 zone, bolstered by a short-term moving average sitting around $4.83.
If sellers push the price below $4.80, the next defensive area is near $4.30. This aligns closely with the 50-day moving average at approximately $4.27, where NEAR bounced earlier in October.
Further down, the 200-day moving average sits near $2.80. Because current prices remain well above this long-term average, the broader market trend remains structurally intact.
What the Technical Indicators Show
Technical indicators suggest that the recent consolidation has allowed the market to cool down following its late-September surge.
- Relative Strength Index (RSI): The RSI fell from overbought levels above 85 in late September to around 50 today. This neutral reset indicates the market has rested, creating room for potential future moves.
- Trading Volume: Volume has gradually declined during this consolidation period. Lower volume in a tight range often precedes a larger breakout, though it also signals current market caution.
Potential Price Scenarios for NEAR
NEAR remains stuck in a tight channel between $4.80 and $5.40. Analysts are watching two primary outcomes depending on market conditions:
- Bullish Scenario: If buyers push a daily close above $5.60 with high trading volume, NEAR could attempt a retest of $6.00 and potentially move toward new highs, provided overall market sentiment remains positive.
- Bearish Scenario: If price action breaks and closes below $4.80 on the daily chart, NEAR could experience a deeper pullback toward the $4.30 support level.
- Neutral Consolidation: Until a breakout occurs on either side, NEAR may continue moving sideways in its current range.
