Bitcoin ETFs Rebound With $1 Billion Inflow Streak

Bitcoin ETFs Turn October Around
Have you been keeping an eye on crypto ETFs lately? Spot Bitcoin ETFs in the United States just staged a remarkable comeback after a rocky start to the month.
On Wednesday alone, these funds pulled in $524.8 million in fresh investor capital. That capped off a solid three-day streak of buying that brought total inflows to roughly $1.07 billion.
This sudden surge was powerful enough to completely erase early October losses. Before this rally, investors had pulled about $615 million out of the funds through last Friday. Now, October is sitting in positive territory by around $460 million.
Looking Under the Hood of ETF Inflows
To understand how dramatic this turnaround was, we need to look back at the past few weeks. Prior to this three-day rebound, spot Bitcoin ETFs suffered two consecutive weeks of heavy redemptions, losing roughly $910 million in total.
The turnaround started strong on Monday with a massive $526.7 million inflow. Interestingly, that entire Monday haul came from a single fund: BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT). That marked the single best daily performance for the funds since September 22.
As it stands today, cumulative net inflows into spot Bitcoin ETFs since their launch have reached $58.4 billion. Total net assets held by these funds now sit at an impressive $100.8 billion.
However, investors should remember that strong institutional inflows do not guarantee upward price momentum. Crypto markets remain subject to rapid sentiment shifts and short-term volatility.
J.P. Morgan Shares Long-Term Bitcoin Outlook
The recent wave of ETF buying arrived alongside a significant vote of confidence from Wall Street. For the first time ever, J.P. Morgan Asset Management released a formal long-term forecast for Bitcoin.
The firm projected a 10% compound annual return for Bitcoin over the next 10 to 15 years. At the same time, analysts warned investors to prepare for substantial annual volatility of around 55%.
It is important to view this projection within context. Such long-term estimates depend on key assumptions, including continued institutional adoption, favorable global economic trends, and stable market infrastructure. If macroeconomic conditions deteriorate or strict regulatory changes occur, actual performance could fall well short of these targets.
What's Going On With EthereumETH-4.80% ETFs?
While Bitcoin funds were making headlines, spot Ethereum ETFs caught a brief breath of relief. On Wednesday, Ethereum funds logged $14.9 million in positive net inflows.
This small inflow ended a frustrating five-day streak of capital flight that had drained roughly $389 million out of Ethereum funds.
Despite Wednesday's positive bump, Ethereum ETFs remain deep in the red for the month of October, sitting down by approximately $1.07 billion. Since their launch, cumulative net inflows for spot Ethereum funds stand at $12.8 billion.
Market Prices Diverge From ETF Buying
Interestingly, the huge inflows into Bitcoin ETFs did not translate into immediate market price gains across crypto exchanges. On Thursday, Bitcoin traded at around $81,470, representing a 2.4% drop over a 24-hour period.
Even with that daily dip, Bitcoin remained up about 2% over the past seven days. Just a day earlier, the asset hit a weekly high near $85,000. Over the past 24 hours, Bitcoin traded within a range of $81,331 to $84,789 with a trading volume of $1.8 billion.
Other major assets also felt the pull of the broader market pullback:
- Ethereum fell 2.6% over 24 hours to trade near $2,393.
- The total cryptocurrency market capitalization slipped 2.9% down to $2.84 trillion.
- Zcash dropped 5.6% on the day, though it maintained a 14% gain over a seven-day period.
Trader Expectations and Prediction Market Odds
Beyond ETF flows and spot price action, traders are watching prediction markets like Myriad, which is operated by Decrypt's parent company, Dastan. Current prediction odds show that traders remain cautious about a major short-term breakout.
Here is how Myriad traders view the potential outcomes for Bitcoin before October ends:
- There is only a 20% chance that Bitcoin tops $87,500 before the end of October.
- The odds of Bitcoin reaching $90,000 stand at just 9%.
- Traders assign a 35% probability to Bitcoin dipping back down to $77,500.
- For immediate price action today, traders give a 51% chance that Bitcoin stays between $80,000 and $82,000.
- There is a 65% chance that Bitcoin stays below $82,000 throughout this week.
When it comes to Ethereum, sentiment looks slightly different. Myriad users assign a 61.3% chance that ETH will rally to $3,000 before eventually pulling back toward $1,500.
Note that prediction market probabilities reflect trader sentiment and speculative activity rather than guaranteed price movements. These odds can change suddenly based on new economic data or market events.
Macro Factors: Federal Reserve Meeting on the Horizon
Looking ahead, macroeconomic events will likely play a major role in shaping crypto price trajectories. Market participants are paying close attention to the Federal Reserve's upcoming policy meeting scheduled for October 27-28.
Because inflation metrics remain persistent, analysts note that another interest rate hike remains on the table. Higher interest rates typically tighten financial conditions, which can impact risk assets like crypto.
Risk Reminder and Historical Context
When evaluating crypto investments, it is crucial to keep historical context and inherent risks in mind. Past performance of digital assets or past operational performance is not indicative of future performance or results.
