Bitcoin ETFs End Two-Week Losing Streak with $301M Gain

BitcoinBTC+0.55% Spot ETFs Turn Green After a Rollercoaster Week
United States spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) managed to break a two-week losing streak this past week. They pulled in about $301 million in net gains overall.
The week did not end on a high note, however. Funds experienced notable capital outflows on Thursday and Friday as trading momentum cooled down.
On Friday alone, investors pulled $137.9 million out of spot Bitcoin ETFs. That marked the second straight day of net negative flows for the investment funds.
Still, strong demand earlier in the week kept the weekly total in positive territory.
Inside the Numbers: How the Trading Week Played Out
The trading week started with strong buying interest. From Monday through Wednesday, spot Bitcoin ETFs welcomed $1.07 billion in fresh capital.
That positive momentum reversed abruptly during the second half of the week. Thursday saw an exit of $635.6 million, which was the largest single-day outflow of October.
Combining Thursday and Friday, total exits reached about $773.5 million. That late-week drop wiped out more than 70% of the gains made earlier in the week.
Even with that retreat, ending the week up $301 million provided relief to institutional products after two straight weeks of net losses.
October Performance and Total Assets Held
Crypto investors often refer to October as a traditionally strong month for market returns. However, October is currently sitting in negative territory for Bitcoin ETFs.
Midweek inflows briefly pushed October's total into positive ground. The heavy late-week selling reversed that progress, leaving Bitcoin funds down about $314 million for the month so far.
Looking at the bigger picture, cumulative net inflows for U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs stand at $57.6 billion since their launch in January 2024.
Total net assets held across all spot Bitcoin funds now hover around $100.2 billion. Past performance of digital assets is not an indication of future performance.
EthereumETH-0.06% and SolanaSOL+0.99% ETFs Face Ongoing Pressure
Spot Ethereum ETFs saw a tiny net inflow of $4.4 million on Friday. Despite that positive day, Ethereum funds lost around $221 million over the full week.
That brings total October losses for spot Ethereum ETFs to roughly $1.18 billion. Cumulative net inflows for Ethereum products stand at $12.7 billion since their July debut.
Meanwhile, spot Solana ETFs recorded zero net flows on Friday after shedding $8.9 million on Thursday. They are currently down about $68 million for October.
Investors follow ETF flow data closely because these funds hold actual underlying assets. Since flows represent direct institutional demand, they serve as a helpful sentiment metric.
Crypto Market Prices and Macroeconomic Factors
Spot prices across major digital assets drifted lower as the weekend approached. Bitcoin fell 1.1% over a 24-hour window to trade near $80,490, down 1.2% across seven days.
Ethereum dropped 2.6% over 24 hours to around $2,344. Solana slipped 2.8% to roughly $101 during the same period.
The total cryptocurrency market capitalization decreased by 1.2%, settling at $2.79 trillion.
This crypto pullback coincided with broader macroeconomic headwinds. Crude oil prices rose above $111 per barrel midweek, while artificial intelligence stocks experienced a selloff.
Prediction Markets Reflect Growing Caution
Prediction markets show that traders are growing more cautious about where Bitcoin will close out the month.
Data from Myriad, a prediction platform built by Dastan, indicates a 43% chance that Bitcoin falls to $77,500 before October ends. That is up from a 32% probability recorded earlier.
Traders also give an 18% chance for Bitcoin to drop to $75,000. Conversely, the odds of Bitcoin climbing above $87,500 dropped from 17% down to 10%.
Price targets in prediction markets depend heavily on liquidity and macroeconomic conditions. If volatility increases, prices may decline further, while a influx of capital could prompt a rebound.
Altcoin Outlook and Institutional Projections
Prediction market sentiment for alternative coins shows mixed views among active market participants.
Solana traders lean slightly bullish, giving a 51.6% chance for SOL to reach $160 before dropping to $40. However, this probability dipped from 54.9% previously.
Ethereum sentiment remained steady, with traders assigning a 61.3% chance for ETH to reach $3,000 before falling to $1,500.
Earlier in the week, J.P. Morgan Asset Management projected potential annualized returns of 10% for Bitcoin over the next decade.
Such long-term forecasts assume sustained institutional adoption and stable economic growth. However, shifting regulatory policies or market downturns could lead to lower actual returns.
