1 XRP for 1 BTC? The Famous Story in XRPL History

A Symbolic Order That Became Crypto Folklore
On New Year's Day in 2014, an early cryptocurrency enthusiast made a playful yet historic trade offer. A wallet account named Fuzzybear placed an order on the XRP Ledger decentralized exchange.
The offer was simple: trade 1 XRP for 1 Bitcoin. At the time, 1 Bitcoin was worth significantly more than 1 XRP.
The trade never found a buyer. Yet, it became an iconic story that XRP supporters still talk about today.
How the Fuzzybear Order Came to Be
To understand why this moment mattered, we have to look back at the early days of the XRP Ledger. The ledger went live in early 2013.
Engineers David Schwartz, Jed McCaleb, and Arthur Britto created the network. They wanted to improve upon Bitcoin by offering faster settlement times and lower fees.
They also added a native decentralized exchange directly into the network. On February 21, 2013, just seven weeks after the ledger launched, the Fuzzybear wallet was activated.
On January 1, 2014, Fuzzybear placed the famous limit order: 1 XRP for 1 BTCBTC-1.20%. It was a symbolic gesture showing what a decentralized order book could do.
The Twist Behind the Famous Order
Because the order sat on a public blockchain, it never vanished. Anyone can still view the transaction on the ledger today.
Years later, the person behind the Fuzzybear account clarified the backstory on social media platform X.
He confirmed that he placed the sell order for 1 XRP to 1 BTC. However, he also revealed a surprising twist.
He lost access to that original wallet long ago. That means even if someone executed the trade today, he could never collect the funds!
From Early Experiment to Community Symbol
Over the years, the XRP community grew to over 20,000 members. The Fuzzybear order became a shared piece of nostalgia for early adopters.
In October 2026, treasury company Evernorth brought the story back into the spotlight. They shared the history on X ahead of RippleXRP-2.68% Swell week 2026.
Evernorth explained that the trade represented early confidence in XRPL technology. The story even inspired community merchandise and a meme token named FUZZ.
Evernorth and the Growth of XRP Treasury Holdings
The story resurfaced at a time when institutional adoption of XRP continues to expand. Evernorth recently completed a business merger with Armada Acquisition Corp. II.
On October 12 at 9:30 a.m. Eastern Time, Evernorth shares began trading on Nasdaq under ticker symbol XRPN.
Evernorth holds roughly 473 million XRP in its treasury. The company aims to deploy this capital across the growing XRP ecosystem.
Comparing XRP and Bitcoin Prices Today
The price gap between XRP and Bitcoin remains substantial today. At the time of writing, XRP traded around $1.27, while Bitcoin traded around $80,554.
At these prices, 1 XRP is worth about 0.0015766% of a single Bitcoin. Digital asset prices are highly volatile and can shift rapidly due to market conditions.
Past performance of digital assets is not an indication of future returns. Investors can review current market data on Bitkub Market.
Why Early Crypto History Still Matters
The Fuzzybear trade remains a fun example of early crypto experimentation. It highlights how far decentralized networks have come over the past decade.
What started as an unfilled limit order in 2014 is now a permanent chapter in blockchain history.
