Zuri-Invest Tokenizes Uranium Holdings via Tezos Blockchain

A New Way to Invest in Nuclear Fuel
Have you ever wondered how major institutional investors trade massive physical commodities like uranium? Traditionally, purchasing raw uranium was not something an everyday investor or smaller asset manager could easily do. It typically involved large commercial lots, complex logistics, and millions of dollars in capital.
On November 5, 2026, Zurich-based asset manager Zuri-Invest AG announced a major modernization in commodity access. Regulated by the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA), the firm launched its new Physical Uranium Tracker, backed by a tokenized physical uranium asset called xU3O8 on the TezosXTZ+3.60% blockchain.
By converting real physical uranium into digital tokens, Zuri-Invest is opening up access to a commodity market that was historically locked behind high financial and regulatory barriers.
How Tokenization Simplifies Commodity Investing
Tokenization takes a real-world physical asset—in this case, raw uranium held in secure facilities—and creates a digital representation of ownership on a blockchain network. This process allows large commodity holdings to be divided into much smaller, tradeable units.
This new tokenized tracker directly replaces Zuri-Invest's former investment offering, the Actively Managed Certificate (AMC) on Physical Uranium. By holding the xU3O8 token, Zuri-Invest can manage its physical inventory with far greater operational efficiency.
Key benefits brought by this tokenized model include:
- Lower Entry Costs: Investors can gain direct exposure to physical uranium without buying massive commercial lots.
- Improved Liquidity: Digital tokens trade far more efficiently than traditional physical commodity paperwork.
- Precise Rebalancing: Institutional clients can adjust their asset allocations with pinpoint accuracy rather than dealing in bulky contract increments.
- Faster Settlement: Blockchain transactions finalize almost instantly, cutting down administrative costs associated with holding physical inventories.
Perspectives from Industry Leaders
Leadership at Zuri-Invest and its technology partners view this launch as a milestone for commodity tokenization.
"We believe uranium is one of the most compelling opportunities in commodities today, and our clients deserve a streamlined way to access it as efficient as the market is promising," said Patrick Michaels, Chairman of Zuri-Invest AG. "Tokenizing our physical inventory means underlying ownership can move instantly. For Zuri-Invest, it removes much of the complexity of managing a physical commodity that trades in large increments, so we can offer clients a more investable product."
Ben Elvidge, Head of Alternative Assets at Trilitech, highlighted how regulatory infrastructure enables institutional adoption:
"When it comes to tokenized assets, the challenge for institutional adoption isn’t conviction, it’s regulatory clarity and access to the right infrastructure," Elvidge noted. "By tokenising its physical inventory on Tezos and enabling its clients to access uranium via xU3O8, Zuri-Invest is pioneering technology that turns a historically illiquid commodity into an asset that moves with the speed and efficiency of modern markets. Now, investors can get exposure to physical uranium at a fraction of the traditional price of entry, with the benefit of near-instant settlement and without all the costs associated with managing physical inventory."
Why Uranium Demand is Rising
The launch comes amid renewed global interest in nuclear power and clean energy infrastructure. Two major factors are currently driving energy consumption trends: the global transition toward low-carbon fuels and the rapid expansion of artificial intelligence.
Data centers powering advanced AI systems require reliable, 24/7 electricity. To secure constant power supplies, technology giants like Oracle, Microsoft, and Meta are directly financing nuclear reactors to fuel their computing hubs.
Additionally, new innovations in the nuclear energy sector are boosting long-term fuel requirements:
- Small Modular Reactors (SMRs): Modern, compact nuclear reactor designs that are faster and cheaper to deploy.
- Life Extensions: Power companies around the world are extending the operational lifespans of existing nuclear power plants.
Industry projections suggest that total nuclear demand for uranium could double by the year 2040 based on these expanding utility requirements. However, investors should remember that long-term commodity demand relies on ongoing technological deployment, stable regulatory policy, and global economic factors that remain subject to change over time.
Understanding the Supply Crunch
While global demand for nuclear fuel continues to expand, supply from mining projects remains constrained due to a decade of underinvestment in new exploration.
Data shows that all currently known mines and planned projects cover only 46% of forecasted 2040 demand. Bringing new uranium mines into production is a lengthy regulatory and technical process. In addition, existing high-grade mining reserves are projected to approach depletion toward the mid-2030s.
Portfolio Diversification Advantages
Beyond supply and demand fundamentals, physical uranium offers unique characteristics for portfolio design. Historically, physical uranium prices have shown a low correlation with traditional stock markets.
Because commodity prices are heavily driven by long-term power utility contracts rather than short-term corporate earnings cycles, adding physical uranium tracker certificates provides investors with a flexible tool for asset diversification.
