Strive Buys $335M in Bitcoin, Raising Reserves to 36,818 BTC

Strive Adds $335 Million in Bitcoin to Corporate Treasury
Financial firm Strive has expanded its cryptocurrency holdings once again. The company recently purchased an additional 1,223 Bitcoin (BTCBTC+1.34%) for approximately $335 million.
This latest purchase brings Strive's total reserves to 36,818 BTC. The firm continues to strengthen its position as one of the largest corporate holders of Bitcoin globally.
Surpassing MARA Holdings in Corporate Reserves
Strive's aggressive accumulation strategy has moved it up the ranks among public companies holding Bitcoin. An earlier batch of purchases allowed Strive to overtake MARA Holdings in total corporate reserves.
MARA Holdings, formerly known as Marathon Digital, has long been recognized as a major Bitcoin mining operator and treasury holder. Passing MARA highlights Strive's commitment to building a massive digital asset balance sheet.
How Strive Funds Its Bitcoin Purchases
To fund these large-scale acquisitions, Strive relies primarily on equity financing. This means the company issues new shares of its stock to capital markets and uses the proceeds to purchase Bitcoin.
By using equity financing, Strive can continually raise cash without relying exclusively on operational income. The company plans to keep using this mechanism to expand its treasury over time.
The Shift Toward Bitcoin Balance Sheets
Traditionally, corporations keep their cash reserves in fiat currency, short-term treasury bills, or money market funds. However, several firms now view Bitcoin as an alternative treasury reserve asset.
Advocates of corporate Bitcoin reserves argue that digital assets provide protection against traditional currency inflation. However, integrating crypto into a balance sheet also changes a company's financial profile.
Understanding the Risks and Market Volatility
While adopting a Bitcoin strategy can attract investor interest, it also exposes firms to significant crypto market volatility. If the price of Bitcoin drops, the company's asset values and stock performance can experience sharp downside adjustments.
Additionally, relying heavily on equity financing can dilute existing shareholder value if the newly acquired assets do not perform as expected over the long run.
