Stellar Network Processes 14.16M Daily Transactions

A Big Milestone for the StellarXLM+0.46% Network
Imagine a digital highway staying smooth even when traffic surges. That is exactly what happened on the Stellar (XLM) blockchain on October 23.
The network recorded its busiest day of the month, processing 14.16 million transactions in 24 hours. Data from analytics platform Chainspect showed an average speed of 163.9 transactions per second (TPS).
The heavy usage continued into the next day. On October 24, transaction speeds peaked at 224.6 TPS during high-demand periods.
Ultra-Low Fees Despite High Demand
On many major blockchains, sudden traffic spikes cause heavy network congestion. That slowdown usually leads to high gas costs for users.
Stellar handled this massive traffic surge without breaking a sweat. The average network fee stayed extremely low at just $0.00012 per transaction.
This is not the first time the network managed heavy loads effortlessly. A similar spike occurred on October 11, when the system processed 12 million transactions at 139 TPS while keeping fees equally low.

Tech Upgrades Laying the Groundwork
This impressive throughput capability is the result of planned protocol updates. Developers have been constantly tuning the system for higher traffic.
Back in September, the network launched Protocol 28, also known as the 'Adapter' upgrade. That update rebuilt data throughput mechanisms, resulting in a temporary peak of 217.4 TPS across a 100-block window on September 26.
Infrastructure optimization continued with the launch of ChainlinkLINK+0.61% price data feeds on October 14. Developers are now preparing for Protocol 30, dubbed 'Bell,' which goes to a vote in the coming days.
What Driven the Inflow of Traffic?
The sharp increase in activity stems largely from institutional growth in stablecoins and tokenized Real-World Assets (RWAs).
A fresh report for Q3 2025 revealed several key metrics behind this transaction volume growth:
- Total financial transaction volume on Stellar reached $33.2 billion, up 71% quarter-over-quarter.
- Stablecoin transfer volume rose 121% quarter-over-quarter to $25.1 billion, marking a 314% jump year-over-year.
- The new USDT0 asset generated $200 million in turnover within just 10 weeks of its release.
- Tokenized Real-World Asset (RWA) volume expanded to $4.1 billion.
- The network executed its first institutional repo deal with automatic rollover collateralized by U.S. Treasuries using USDM1 tokens.
Developer Growth and System Reliability
Stellar currently holds second place globally among Layer 1 networks for active developer participation. Almost 4,000 active developers are building out the platform's infrastructure.
The network has kept uptime at 99.99% despite welcoming millions of new users. Total user accounts on the blockchain have officially passed the 11 million mark.
While network metrics reflect growing adoption, crypto markets can experience fast changes and volatility. Investors should always evaluate market conditions carefully before making decisions.
