Franklin Templeton Hits $1.1B Asset Milestone on Stellar

Franklin Templeton Reaches $1.1 Billion Asset Milestone on StellarXLM-8.48%
Big financial institutions are continuing to move traditional assets onto blockchain networks. On November 5, 2026, asset management giant Franklin Templeton officially reached a $1.1 billion milestone in real-world assets (RWAs) hosted on the Stellar (XLM) network.
This milestone came after a sudden $200 million net capital inflow poured into its tokenized money market fund, known as BENJI. Please note that past performance of digital assets or institutional adoption does not guarantee future financial returns.
Surpassing EthereumETH-7.28% and Building on Shared Origins
According to a report from the RWA Foundation using Token Terminal data, Stellar has become Franklin Templeton's second most important blockchain network. It trails only BNBBNB-3.54% Chain and has moved ahead of Ethereum (ETH) for these tokenized funds.
This growth creates a noticeable gap in institutional volume between Stellar and the XRPXRP-5.69% Ledger (XRPL). Interestingly, both blockchains share a common origin story. Crypto pioneer Jed McCaleb played a key role in founding both networks.
Who Owns the Tokenized Asset Market on Stellar?
The liquidity for real-world assets on Stellar is mostly shared among four major financial platforms. Here is how the market breaks down today:
- Spiko: Leads the market by holding about half of all tokenized funds on Stellar, valued at roughly $2 billion.
- Franklin Templeton: Holds second place with its popular flagship BENJI fund.
- OndoONDO-9.57% and Realiz: BlackRock-backed Ondo and Realiz split the remainder, commanding about $500 million each.
Comparing the Numbers: Stellar vs. XRP Ledger
The difference in institutional activity between Stellar and XRP Ledger is becoming clearer. On the XRP Ledger, Franklin Templeton's presence remains limited to its sg BENJI fund, which is worth $200 million.
When comparing the two networks, Stellar holds a 10-fold lead in unique RWA token holders. Stellar also records hundreds of millions of dollars in monthly asset distribution volume, compared to $22 million on XRPL.
An Overnight $200 Million Surge and Payment Trends
The sudden $200 million liquidity boost into BENJI on Stellar caught market analysts by surprise. Researchers at RWA platform Zeus RWA noted that the funds arrived right as they prepared to release their data.
Franklin Templeton decided to add another hundred million just as we were about to publish...
Another major difference appears in how stablecoins are used on each network. While both chains hold similar total amounts of digital dollars, Stellar sees far more commercial payment activity.
Stellar logged $20.48 billion in monthly commercial payment transit volume. In contrast, XRPL recorded $9 million, showing that stablecoins on XRPL are mostly held in accounts rather than moved through active payment tunnels.
Key Drivers Behind Stellar's Momentum Into 2027
Stellar's growth in the second half of 2026 has been supported by strategic ecosystem integrations. One key update was locking in Chainlink's price oracle to provide accurate data feeds across the network.
Looking ahead, a joint venture with the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC)—the main US central repository for securities—is expected to enable the direct launch of traditional financial vehicles on-chain by the first half of 2027.
