Ethereum Faces Rollercoaster Volatility as Analysts Eyeball Key Levels

EthereumETH-6.95%'s Recent Price Rollercoaster
Ethereum (ETH) experienced sharp price swings recently. After a broader market wave lifted ETH above $2,400 following US midterm election news, the asset faced immediate rejection, pulling back below $2,300.
Despite this sudden drop, several crypto analysts maintain a positive outlook for ETH in the short to medium term. However, mixed technical indicators suggest traders should watch key price levels carefully.
Technical Chart Setups and Analyst Views
Market analysts on social platform X have highlighted several important technical chart patterns for Ethereum.
Reclaiming Key Moving Averages
Analyst Ted noted that Ethereum successfully reclaimed its 50-day Exponential Moving Average (50D EMA) after moving above $2,400. He described this movement as "a major sign of strength."
Historically, when ETH maintains its position above this technical line, it has often led to periods of continued upward momentum.
Higher Lows and Medium-Term Targets
Analyst Crypto Candy pointed out that Ethereum continues to print higher lows on its price chart. By recovering from pullbacks and preserving its structure, the analyst expects further moves toward new peaks, noting they personally acquired ETH around $2,270.
Similarly, analyst Wealthmanager suggested ETH could aim for levels above $3,000 in the coming months, provided buying momentum stays intact. However, if broader market conditions deteriorate, the price could face downside pressure instead.
Historical Support Bands and Buy Signals
Analyst Merlijn The Trader called ETH "the sleeper of this cycle," noting that its price tested a long-term support band established in 2018 for the second time.
"Last time it got tested twice: $90 to $4,800. Same setup. Same silence. You know what comes next," he stated.
Past performance of digital assets is not an indication of future performance. Investors can track current market trends on the Bitkub ETH Market.
Meanwhile, analyst Ali Martinez highlighted that ETH's dip to a local bottom around $2,200 coincided with a TD Sequential buy signal on the three-day chart. Martinez projected that if buying volume steps in, ETH could rebound to $2,500, with further resistance near $2,700. If demand drops, prices could retest lower support levels.
Spot ETH ETFs See $50 Million Inflows
Institutional market sentiment showed signs of recovery as spot Ethereum ETFs recorded over $50 million in single-day inflows, according to data from SoSoValue.
This represents the highest single-day inflow for spot ETH ETFs since September. However, analysts note it may be too early to confirm a total market reversal, as these funds experienced consistent net outflows over previous weeks.
RSI Indicator Signals Caution
Despite bullish analyst projections, the Relative Strength Index (RSI) suggests potential short-term weakness.
- An RSI above 70 indicates an asset may be overbought, increasing the likelihood of a price pullback.
- An RSI below 30 indicates an asset may be oversold, which traders often view as a potential rebound area.
Ethereum's RSI currently stands around 72. This elevated reading supports the possibility of a temporary price correction before ETH attempts any further upward movement.
